Chinese New Year

The whole school took part in Chinese New Year celebrations. Children dressed up, tasted food, found out about customs and traditions, sang songsĀ and made decorations.

Year 4 were really surprised at how different it is to go to school in China. We found out that the schools have many more pupils than schools in Great Britain and they begin their school day singing their National Anthem while raising the national flag. They don’t have to wear uniforms and the teachers wear casual clothes such as jeans and leather jackets. At lunchtime the children eat bowls of boiled rice. They leave at 4.30. We decided we are pleased we learn at Middlethorpe.
